Before purchasing a multifunction printer (MFP) you should put your research in place and get the answers to all your questions, because once you have made your purchase you can be stuck with it and have to make do instead of getting what you need or want.
The company’s return policy – theoretically you may be able to return a multi function printer if it does not work according to your specifications, but you should find out what the fine print of the guarantee entails. Will the printer be repaired or replaced if there is problem? Is it possible to get your money back if you are not completely satisfied?
The support given by the technical staff – you buy a product from a showroom or retail outlet, but the staff that gives you service is completely different. They should be experienced and be able to answer your queries and help you if there is any fault. Often minor faults may be attended to by the people at a support helpline while major faults may require the service of technical staff. You should also check the warranty terms – is it a carry in warranty or will the company send the technician to the place where the printer is housed?
Software upgrades or future technology for the printer – the multi function printer should be open to software upgrades and technical updates as well. If any new technology comes out, with the company offer software support for it? If your printer uses a Wi-Fi network and you change your anti-virus, will it still be protected? Will the printer be able to print directly and seamlessly from mobile devices?
Answers to these questions will help you make the right purchase decision and will keep you protected as far as possible.
